There are so many animals who are euthanized just because of overcrowded shelters. People breed animals purely for financial benefit, without a thought to the unwanted animals suffering. Just like mutts, not all purebred dogs end up in happy forever homes. Many full-blooded breeds suffer genetic defects from breeding that "common" cats and dogs don't exhibit. Animal ownership has become a fashion accessory and people wanting to be seen are going after looks not companionship. They shouldn't have any pets. If people would fix their animals, adopt from shelters or sponsor adoptions if they can't adopt, and refuse to buy from breeders, we would eventually see a reduction in shelter animals.
for many people buying a pet is like buying a fashion accessory or furniture
