@alex I'm not sure what you are missing but I'll say it again. executive orders and actions are in both the current and original constitution. He isn't breaking anything.

isn't Congress breaking the Constitution by totally ignoring the will of the people and doing absolutely nothing?

We the people could mean 1 of 2 things. Either they are doing what is best for the people, or they are doing what the people want whether that is what's best for them or not. The founding fathers created a nation based those two principles. They didn't write "we the founding fathers know best"

3 years, 4 months ago

you put WAY too much stock in what the founding fathers thought. they achieved some significant things. but they lived 200 years. a significant amount of what they thought and believed is out dated or irrelevant in the modern world.

so no. they shouldn't be doing what the founding fathers want. they should do what is best for their people.

3 years, 4 months ago

the problem is that politicians do 1. what is best for themselves or 2. what they think is best for the country when they should be doing what the founding fathers wanted and did 3. what the people want.

it should be "we the people" not "we the goverment"

I actually like the gun control order he did. I think we need more gun control. what I don't like is that he broke the constitution to do so.

3 years, 4 months ago

no. he is completely within his legal rights to do so. just because you don't like the things he's doing doesn't make it dictatorial. he is doing what is in the best interest of the country, something the Republicans will say they are doing, but are are actually doing what's best for themselves.

I?m going to be working with Congress where I can to accomplish this, but I?m also going to act on my own if Congress is deadlocked. I?ve got a pen to take executive actions where Congress won?t, and I?ve got a telephone to rally folks around the country to this mission.?

or in other words ignore checks of congress. skip the congress checks, and do whatever he wants (this is what dictators do)

3 years, 4 months ago

Executive Branch

Checks on the Legislature
Veto power
Vice President is President of the Senate
Commander in chief of the military
Recess appointments
Emergency calling into session of one or both houses of Congress
May force adjournment when both houses cannot agree on adjournment
Compensation cannot be diminished
Checks on the Judiciary
Power to appoint judges
Pardon power
Checks on the Executive
Vice President and Cabinet can vote that the President is unable to discharge his duties

I don't see a "make new laws, add on to laws" part.

"I'm not saying It's better to be screwed in secret, I'm saying that corrupt Democrats do subtle screwing in small incremental steps we usually don't notice, while Republicans don't even bother trying to hide and screw us in huge and blatant ways. "

- Things build up overtime. So you are saying that you don't want to be screwed in secret, but lea. towards the group that does that because "usually don't notice".

"and the science issues Republicans deny are not in any way contrary to God. I am not talking about evolution which is relatively unimportant but global warming which is getting really dire. what part of scripture does global warming negate? this has nothing to do with pandering to their religious base (which is a politicians job), but selling out the American people to multinational energy oligarchs and what I consider to be high treason."

- I'm not going to lie. I agree with global warming and the steady climate change. However there is evidence that goes against it and just because majority of scientist agree doesn't automatically make it right. That's happened before in history. There not all "selling out the American people". They are not evil people, they just have a different viewpoint.

That's because they are appealing to their beliefs. Majority of America is still Christian (I believe) as is the GOP. It cannot be denied or confirmed that God exist so many continue to believe even if the bible has (for lack of a better word) been debunked for some parts. It still has a unifing way about it and many morals. Plus the GOP is the traditional type.

So you rather it not be made public that you are being screwed over? I'd rather not be screwed over, but at least I know what I am getting then.

3 years, 4 months ago

although I agree, in my opinion conservative leaders are far more corrupt. going as far a denying obvious science and battling the international scientific concensus is embarrassing.

Both sides pass legislation that favors their special interest donors but Democrats at least do it hush hush, while Republicans are blatantly stabbing us in the back and spreading lies like trickle down economics bull shit and convincing average people that the estate tax is bad.

so vote for Ben Carson.

Let's face it people. Nearly all our politicans (liberal and conservative) are corrupt. That's a people issue.

3 years, 4 months ago

well if conservative leaders keep selling us out for corporate plutocrats then yes, most of the earth will be unsuitable for humans in 100 years.

3 years, 4 months ago

according to liberals the earth won't be liveable in 100 years, yet you say we're good. lol. liberals will do anything to go against a conservative.

can psychDave come on, so I can have a real debate?

We aren't taught that Ryan. Where are you getting that from. Many know there are past flaws in America.

Maybe he means morally? There are studies stating the both democrats and Republicans agree that not only have race relations gotten worse, but moral decay is on the rise.

It's true. America is more liberal then it use to be. That's not necessarily a bad thing, but it has brought negatives.

3 years, 4 months ago

how is the world going down? compared to what? the world has always been this way. there has always been war and death. the world is significantly safer and less violent than it was 100 years ago.

3 years, 4 months ago

and what part of my statement isn't true, that the world (more liberal then ever) Is going down, or the us (more liberal then ever) Is going down.

or maybe you think the US was less powerful and not as good a few hundred years ago when america seemed like a dream to most people. believe it or not the US was top of education in the 1800's. we are not anymore, we are near the bottom. and our education methods have changed too. anyone on this app have logic?

3 years, 4 months ago

that's just not true, your precious founding fathers owned slaves and had the native Americans brutally killed. women were not allowed to vote, and even today the presidency is about who has the richest supporters. it took 150 years to only semi-abolish racism. it scares me how Americans are taught that their country is perfect in every way, and cannot do anything wrong.

Europe had slaves, they had people killed, London is famous for tourture. woman were not allowed to vote.
what we are doing here is comparing right wing countries with left wing countries. not pointing out bad things on america everyone did.

Funny that most people I'm the world are left wings, and the world is going down quickly. also crazy how america is more right wing, yet was by far the best country for over 200 years, and only now when it has become left wing, it has gone down.

very, very strange how that works.

3 years, 4 months ago

Where do moderates, centrist, independent, third-party individuals go? Where their views do not mold well into right or left. Also do you mean Americans left and right? Or more like Canada, UK type?
