Except history has shown that it doesn't. Beyond your mistaken belief that incarceration cures addition, are you honestly suggesting that everyone who has ever done any drug should be imprisoned for life?
What could be worse?
not really. you know what lowers the rate even more? locking somebody in prison for life for taking drugs. thatll lower the number of people taking drugs significantly.
Portugal had some of the worst hard drug usage in the Europe before they decriminalized it. they clearly didn't have discipline. now their rates have dropped considerably. they are some of the best in Europe.
treating addiction as a health issue is much more effective than trying to treat it as a criminal issue. clearly it helps increase what you call discipline.
People know drugs are illegal, and they continue to do it. Doesn't that say anything right there? Drugs kill you inside, with the exception of weed. We shouldn't decriminalize it, especially for drug traffickers. There should be a hefty fine and a some sort of jail sentence for repeating offenders. They need help and they will get help, but we should not ignore them for blatantly breaking the law. We need less people on drugs, not more. Drugs are addicting regardless of the legality, remember that.
all they care about is "fun" and complain that their "freedom" is being taken away when the govt tries to do something good, like f*** you.
of course its about discipline. what do you mean its not about discipline. self discipline means that people can keep themselves away from harmful things without there being a threat of punishment. its all about discipline. american people have none thats why the country is f***ed.
it isn't about discipline. it is about being able to actually help people who are using drugs. the current system just punishes them which has been proven over and over again to be completely ineffective.
portuguese culture is a lot different than american culture lol. theyre not retards like they are in america. americand are too retarded to have that sort of body discipline.
Portugal didn't legalize them though. they are still illegal. they decriminalized them. they are treating drugs as what they are, a health issue. as a result they are able to have more success helping people stop taking drugs. throwing them in prison obviously doesn't work.
Yeah I know it's not, but it's been shown to be good for society. Case and point:
Several countries are also moving towards it already, we should join:
cocaine isnt legal in netherlands. nice try.
No, I want you make us the Netherlands.
How will it not help?
and moreover "banning" or "legalising" wont help much.
you wanna make america uruguay?
