I'm canadian and 29. So american politics wasn't really of interest to me until the Bush Jr. years. So my knowledge of earlier american presidents isn't as good outside of presidents at critical historical periods. (FDR, LBJ, Woodrow Wilson etc.
are their any accomplishments of Bush senior that put him above obama?
and Clinton seemed to just cruise by on an easy moment in history untested.
But that being said, he was much better than bush jr. or trump. He certainly doesn't qualify as terrible. Just marginally ineffective.
I don't think he was a great president. but mostly because he was a better man than his opponents. He tried to negotiate and compromise with the Republicans to find middle ground. They used that to sabotage everything he tried to do. As a result he didn't accomplish what he needed to. He would have been a much better president if he had ignored the ramblings of men who just wanted to bring him down.
best president since at least Bush senior.
