We do risk keeping bad traditions, but we shouldn't throw out traditions without reason. Traditions connect people. Even if they move far apart, by following traditions they can still feel like part of the community. Look at things like Chinese New Year. In North America, it is still celebrated, and it brings many people together.
That's true, but if we keep traditions we can keep good values too.
