I am a lifelong cat lover who has warmed up to dogs (never liked the jumping and licking). I must say that dogs can be taught more commands and serve more functions as pets and service animals. For cuddling, I'll take a feline any day. If I need protection, I'm going for my German Shepherds. Somehow the image of a furry kitten doesn't seem scary.... :)

That's not really a fair comparison. I would say dogs are more intelligent in their interactions with human. I've seen some dogs trained to do amazing things.
