It depends on what you are looking for in a companion. If you simply want someone around to talk to or want someone to play fetch with or simply want something big or small, something that will slobber all over or just look pretty. It's only a matter of opinion.
Digs are better companions. The show emotion way better and obviously cam be used in many different ways like for hunting, bomb sniffing and suspect finding. Also can be used to defend your home. Dogs have many uses so sorry.
