If you're talking about Africa ... that continent is crawling with all sorts of f***ed.

back on topic, why do people love to hate on celebrities? sure a handful make ridiculous amounts, but most starve or work minimum wage jobs just to get by.

and they have 0 job security. A famous celebrity can be forgetting in no time. athletes can be made jobless by a single injury, heck their careers don't last more than a few years any way. just look at one of those "where are they now" shows.

Instead we should focus on other avenues of wealth, like relatively useless bankers making more than doctors and scientists, or dynasties trying to enshrine their wealth from generation to generation to undeserving heirs who did nothing for it.

yet somehow the mostly poor people who voted for trump are being convinced that eliminating the estate tax will help them... lol. And then they accuse the left of being pro elite lmao. suckers

your situation is exceptional, but then again he will simply point to your father as the blame. A father running away with the money is quite similar to a father boozing or gambling that money away.

more importantly (in a general sense) is how even intact families with the best of intentions can struggle. It is foolish to assume that just because a nation is rich that all its hundreds of millions if residents have the opportunity to share in that wealth. particularly poorer neighborhoods with sub par schools where only the rare gifted have any chance of success, as opposed to middle class areas where any mediocre student can manage a career.

there is no opportunity equality in this nation. which is why our social mobility is equivalent to a 3rd world nation.

excuse me you are making a general statement for a broad selection of people not all people are poor for the same reason not all people are homeless for the same reason yes I believe that some people are homeless and poor because they use it on alcohol and drugs however let me share my story I at a young age was homeless with my mother because my father left us he was having an affair with another woman now my mother was unable to provide shelter for me and my younger sister because my father had took all the money and fled the state now as I said earlier not all people are poor for the same reason our reason is my father took the money and fled and for that reason we ended up homeless and I possibly know what you are thinking or going to say next does she have a job my answer is no my sister is low functioning autistic which means she needs 24/7 care now your probably wondering why we didn't have someone watch her you see my family have very busy lives they all worked again I told you my sister has low spectrum autism which means my mother was unable to work which means no money which also means no home and the usa is too damn stubborn to help those who are truly in I believe that they give the money to one the wrong people and two spend it in the wrong places regardless if I am from the USA or not my belief would be the same

you should know one of the biggest basics. if you owe a debt it doesn't matter how big it is if you can't pay it. your in trouble. stop acting like you don't understand the obvious.

A country that large with the 3rd highest population and a very large industry and trade will of course have a higher debt. Its called "proportion". Stop being so naive. I shouldnt have to educate you on basic common sense. Read up on the matter.

tell me how many of those countries have a debt in the billions.

1 year, 4 months ago

What a silly claim. You do realise that only 2 countries on the planet are debt free right? Debt is a natural occurrence of trade and negotiations between countries. Debt does not show a country to be poor. Rather, I am astounded that you actually believe the US to be poor despite the fact that it is the largest economy, market and people have the time and money to purchase nonsense luxuries that people wouldnt even consider wasting their money on in ACTUAL poor countries like those in Africa.

If the govt is stupid enough to spend 190k on a rainbow colored crosswalk to commemorate sexual perverts, that country is clearly not poor. If the govt can spend 600 billion dollars a year on the military but not even a fraction of that on universal health care, that country is not poor.

Dont get me wrong, America is rich. The only bad stuff is because the people running the country are too incapable of allocating the funds to the right places.

a billion dollar indebt country is Rich?

Why should a country need to help the US? the US is a rich country The fact that you have the audacity to compare some drunkards who are homeless because they spent their money on gambling and booze to genuine starving people in absolute poverty that have to walk miles just to for some dirty water is a joke.

1 year, 4 months ago

no one should have their income taken its already taken to a ridiculous extent, and then also, what countries donate to us? you do realize we have homeless starving people here right? Weve got our own problems.

1 year, 4 months ago

Its a good idea but 10% may be too much. Something more reasonable, like 5% would suffice.

The way it would work is that rather it being "celebrities", anybody who earns an income of $150 000 or more per year is taxed 5% of their income on top of their normal income tax, which is then donated to a recognised charity like Islamic Relief etc so that way, we know that the money is going to genuine poor people and not into the pockets of corrupt officials.

It would help people in poverty a lot since 5% of $150 000 is $7500 so if 10 people who earned that much were taxed that and the money was given to charity, that would be $75 000 going to charity...just from 10 people!

1 year, 5 months ago

Haha NO! It sounds like a good idea but if that country is run by a corrupt leader(s) how do you know that the money is going to go to the poor people and not the leader's pocket?

anyone should donate a percent of their income to any one suffering, such a law will never be implemented. But it's their choice. They rather can be encouraged to help others

2 years, 10 months ago

No. People should be in control of what they do with their money.

2 years, 10 months ago

How do you define someone as a celebrity and therefore deserve to forfeit 10% of their income?
