You are right, it is not impossible. But it is an unhealthy ideal. Claiming that it is just jealousy is shallow and inaccurate.

NerdTagz, you are blatantly lying. Not everyone can be a size 0. If you honestly believe that, why are you "on the chubby side" even though you are trying to lose weight? Do at least some basic research before you spam comments about how anyone can be model thin and you will see that it is simply not possible.

I don't think obese people are healthy, but neither are anorexic people. Why do you feel one extreme is a good thing and the other not? Both lead to health problems.

You also have yet to back up your claim that people hate models or are jealous of them. I am fully capable of knowing that models are at risk of malnutrition without being jealous. I don't hate them, I pity the ones who starve themselves and make themselves sick to maintain an unhealthy weight.

If you don't start backing up your beliefs with some kind of logic, I am going to start simply pointing out over and over that they are your opinion and as such can be dismissed.

Oh I understand Alex. Well I meant Envy. I'm just not a jealous person in the first place so I don't understand why we can't instead of calling out every skinny person as to skinny or aneroxic yet if it was an overweight person so much hate. I'm more on the chubby side and of course I'm insecure but I'm not gonna put others down I'm just hoping we all can instead of complaining of models being an unhealthy image that put people down. Models are fully aware they have flaws since theres always photoshop to get rid of them. We should instead encourage models to be healthy. Shouldn't be that's what matter.

So a model, a person has a size that is unattainable for other people in the world. Again a model is a human being with a size that apparently is impossible to get when that model is living proof of its possibility and I'm talking about healthy models. I know some go through huge lengths to be skinny but instead of getting rid of them why not say that anybody with a healthy body that can work can lose the weight and achieve a similar look. Anyone can be skinny believe it or not. Its not unachievable it depends on your motivation. Its like saying no guy can achieve abs. Yes they can but it needs to acknowledge it won't look the same as always. Everyone has a different body type.

no one is wishing the model isn't good looking. the point is that when you only show models with an unattainable body size, most people can't be that thin, then you create problems. models should reflect the people you are advertising to. it isn't the models fault for being skinny. it's the company's fault for requiring models to be skinny.

it's not jealousy it's envy. jealousy is ok. envy is not. when you want something someone else has that is jealousy, and that's perfectly fine to want things. envy is when you want something but you want nobody else to have it, like in this case wishing the model wasn't good looking, and only you are.

Second, it is the unhealthy body image standards that cause insecurity, not that the people are inherently insecure. If you are bombarded with advertising saying that you are only beautiful if you are size 0 from an early age, eventually you internalize that. That is why people object to the standard set by Barbie and fashion models, not hatred.

First, that doesn't address the question, it just restates your opinion. Who hates models? I can believe that they set an unrealistic body standard without hating them.

3 years, 8 months ago

no people hate it because it teaches children that women need to be stick thin to be beautiful, which most women will never be without anorexia.

it does trigger insecurities because if you believe you have to look like Barbie to be attractive you will always think you are fat in the majority of people.

well why do people hate it because it triggers insecuritys in insecure people.

Who exactly is jealous of Barbie?

Who hates models?

You are kind of jumping from your opinion of what other think and why to a conclusion based solely on that.

I feel like that's why everyone hates barbie, and has a disliking for models in general. I mean its just a toy. Instead of trying to get rid of the problem why not get rid of the source. Which is insecurities and jealousy.

that is well established. what is there to debate?
