if the people in the united states are tremendously selfish (which they are), why the hell do they complain so much about corruption? this is a system fuelled by greed and then people complain when politicians do some dodgy deals for money as if they wouldnt do the same and are some sort of cradle of morality and righteousness.
I do not think it is that people are selfish that would cause communism to fail. I think it is because we have branded a culture of self reliance in conservative orthodoxy from the beggining of American culture that conflicts with the values of communism. We are a pretty generous people if you believe it or not. I think most people respect working for yourself and family and helping other when you can. You have your money and you spend it on what you want, not on what the government tells you to spend it on. Communism will fail and always fail when people realize we want to choose to open up a business at our will and make our own unique decisions for our business at our will, not the governmennt's.
For communism to work people will have to sacrifice some luxuries for the benefit of society and people have to accept everyone getting the same things while some work harder or do more important things. People in the United States are incredibly selfish and would not stand for a system like that so I think we'd have to go through tremendous social change.
Proper communism works, but in the countries using it they have corruption and greed and are not following communism correctly. Now whether it would work in the US is a different question.
aw, until your "fathers" tweaked it a little? lol usa didnt invent democracy and nor was it the first country to implement it. england was a democracy and they simply copued that. you, my friend, are a really bad joke.
sure it has. it works in small kibbutz all over Israel and in small contained communities all over the world.... just like democracy did not work on large scales for thousands of years after its invention in ancient Greece until the fathers tweaked it alittle.
Communism never worked anywhere...
lol the main goal of capitalism is not to take care of everyone! where did you get such a ludicrous statement?
capitalism was supposed to work when all parties have some power and the market determines a fair equilibrium. currently the economy is growing and businesses profit yet wages at the bottom, the easily replaceable, but often difficult physical labor is completely stagnant. of course the top should get more reward but how do you justify them taking all reward?
if the people complain they get replaced, they have no power and the market equilibrium becomes a lie. capitalism only works on small, personal scales like small business, not in our globalized multinational impersonal corporate world.
You are applying a totally different standard to communism than you are to capitalism. The main goal of capitalism is to take care of everyone and the same goes for communism in the most efficient way possible.
Whether you agree or disagree with self-interest being the motive of the economy, it works very well when it is utilized. It is based off logic and common thinking skills.
To say it is flawed is wrong, but whether you disagree with what should be the motive of economic developement is open to vigorous debate.
capitolism is flawed at it's very basic level. capitalism is pursuit of profit at the expense of everything else. you can't make something which it's very principal is flawed perfect.
but communism is perfect at its basic level. if it were done correctly everyone would be taken care of. but the people running the system aren't perfect and the system falls apart. this is what history has shown us.
X if it could be done properly, is perfect. Can x be applied to everything such as capitalism?
communism if it could be done properly is perfect. unfortunately people are not perfect. people are greedy and self centred. so communism will never work.
I do not think it would work as good as the free market. You will have less economic oppurtunity. Economic growth will be very slow and no matter how much harder you work you probably won't get paid more than Josh.
