Top gear will continue airing with new hosts as I understand it. But the BBC had no choice but to fire Clarkson. He physically assaulted his boss because he wasn't given a steak like he wanted. If he he was someone less famous he would have gone to jail. That doesn't even address his constant embarrassments and controversies.

They had every right to fire someone for repeatedly making racist comments and causing them lawsuits and fines as well as negative publicity. It looked like they would have continued the show had everyone else not refused to return without him. I don't fault them for standing by their friend, but neither can I fault the network for not renewing the contract of someone causing that kind of bad press again.
