I agree that death isn't necessarily bad, but just dying whenever you get sick withoit trying to get better is something cynicism would agree with
although i don't think that death is something bad, just the way you die, but i see your point. I don't know enough about these philosophies in order to continue, but i wanted to hear others' thoughts
Well, one example is enough, but I can think of more if you really need. Diogenes was a dick to everyone because of his cynicism, stoicism preaches tolerance. With stoicism, one can still strive to better himself and society, including medical and technological advances. Cynicism preaches, "why do you need medicine when you can just die?" Need I go on?
Why, you only have an example for medical treatment
Again, I would say that stoicism is much better than cynicism
Yeag, I didn't really mean to copy him, but that voluntarily living in poverty would make you happy if you adopt these ideas about possessions
in the wise words of the rock (in a movie, so not really his). "don't try to be the next me, be the next you"
Also, diogenes would have likely refused medicine if he needed it because he was sick, so I don't think that that's a good way to live, either.
I think Seneca's stoicism was a much better way to live than Diogenes' cynicism
Virtue with nature and disrespecting useless social norms, while enjoying in poverty.
