affirmative action has its purpose. employers do discriminate. the experiment with identical job resumes with "normal" vs "ethnic" names proved that.

I would prefer to eliminate affirmative action and instead start doing sting operations set up like that experiment to prosecute discriminating employers instead of prescribing quotas

if I am correct it's about giving minorities an advantage

This is very bad it damages the economy we can't make the hard workers suffer and you are even hurting the people you are trying to help

I feel like if anything it should be environmentally or economically based rather than race.

In some areas I do, in many I do not. Some demographics have faced generations of persecution, so affirmative action aimed at correcting this I agree with. Assisting with education costs benefits the individual, the community and society at large, so I am in favor of helping people from these communities with schooling.

Throwing money at the problems doesn't solve them, and often makes them worse because then people become dependent on the handouts rather than using them to get ahead. Cash reparations I am firmly against.

I am also against jobs going to people from minorities that are less qualified simply because they are from a minority group. The most qualified candidate should get any job, regardless of race, gender, religion, or any other way you can subdivide the population.

It sounds nice in theory, but it is discriminating in today's society. It also does not benefit all who have been wronged.
