Religion restricts us. It hides information from us just because it condridicts the information it preeches. Religion is a buisness at the end of the day and although its intentions aren't harmful it causes conflict due to the differences in beliefs which then corrupts society as religion is a huge part of society. I think that religion can be peaceful but only if we don't take it too seriously and just base it of the moral of being kind. People have read to much into it and that has caused conflict and inflicts the harm on society which slows down cultural development.
An example of this can be medicine throughtout time. Religion restricted other peoples ideas from being accepted by society and limited information taught to those whom were in the medical proffession as they were in control. This meant that society did not develop as fast as it could of and to its maximum potential.
So yes. Religion does restrict us.
There's nothing wrong with any religion. That's my flag. People who don't know how to live under them are the big problem. They want everyone to share their faith and when people say they won't they get upset and start condemning everyone to Hell or even sending them there.
Religion brought the first moral compass in the world.
Relgion doesnt start war, its ironic. People who use relgion to make war, they cause harm
It makes it more difficult for those interested in living on this world rightly to contend with the ethics of those who would rather prepare us all for the next world, even though it seems unlikely to us that there is a next world.
But that doesn't mean they don't deserve the right to express, believe and live by those ethics. Because that other thing which makes discussing conflicts of ethics difficult is the fact of ignorance. We are each of us withheld by a perceptual barrier from the facts of reality, and only by exploring it together; through educating ourselves on the works of others who either have come before us or who stand among us and by judging those claims against perceived reality and logic, do we arrive at such things as ideologies and philosophies, which contain both the sciences and the religions. And it is obvious to anyone studying these human thought concepts that almost all of them are wrong, and only a few of them are right. Whatever we might believe.
@GetRekt I agree that on a personal basis religion can have a profound effect on on an individual's life. on a national and global level in my opinion all it does is complicate the communication between between large groups of people therefore adding extra tension to situations that are often already unstable from other causes such as racial tensions or cultural differences.
religion don't. its just the people interpret it horribly wrong. religion wants as to be a nicer and better person which actually I think is good.
religion can be used as tool for good and bad means but does it do more harm tham good??
