Absolutely they do. They lie about corruption. They lie about national security. The current government lies about connections to Russia. Previous governments have lied about everything from have sex in the oval office to spying on their political opponents. There are lots of examples of the government, and its officials, lying to the public.

That doesn't make every conspiracy theory true though.
