Yeah, somehow a magic wall in the desert is going to stop drugs from coming in on boats and trucks. It is going to stop half of illegal immigrants from coming into the county, even through the large majority are entering through ports of entry. I'm not sure what this wall is made of but it sounds like all walls should be made of it. lol.

"Walls are not immoral, will save many lives and stop drugs from pouring into our country." -trump today in his compromise address

for something that isn't the main point it sure seems to be the primary focus

and a wall wont stop isolated individuals. some sort of motion detection in an open field would be best and probably cost effective.

a wall is meant to stop invasions, as some claimed the caravan was... but they werent doing anything illegal, and they definitely weren't sneaking in any sense. a wall wont stop them either as they declare at the door anyway.

regardless, it's an invalid point. they are false scare tactics to get people to agree to his main point.

what's more important then the blantant falsehood, but the fact that he routinely uses them. although it does sound right if you dont think about it too hard.

He tends to go all over the place in his promises. I agree he primarily talks about immigrants. but he also talks about drugs and terrorists all the time too.

No, I agree that the wall won't work. I was just saying that drugs isn't usually his main point when he talks about it.

As has been pointed out on pretty well all major networks, illegal immigration has been declining for a decade. So there is no emergency. More than half of all illegal immigrants enter the country legally and overstay their visa. A wall does nothing about that. and lastly, the net flow of people is actually going out, not in. More people are leaving america to go to mexico than people coming into america from mexico.

So to summarize:
- It wont stop drugs because they come in ships, planes and trucks. It doesn't get carried by some poor guy through the desert.
- It wont stop most illegal immigrants because most of them come through ports of entry as well.
- and there is no emergency on the southern border at all because illegal crossings have been dropping for almost 2 decades. The highest point was in 2001.

whether it's a main point or a side point, the point is wrong. it is also a point mentioned by the president at every speech.

why do you think the people are not coming legally?

7 months, 1 week ago

While I don't necessarily agree with the building of the wall, the main point isn't to stop drugs from coming across, though that is a (theoretical) positive side effect. The main point is simply to stop or hinder much of illegal immigration from Mexico.
