Family is the most important thing, as long as they are supportive and loving. If you have abusive or neglectful and uncaring relatives, then hopefully you have others in your life to fill the void. Unfortunately, not all families are functional and supportive.
I think family are the closest people to us because we grow up with them and people with whom we share our problems. Our father, mother and siblings are the people with whom we spend most of our time. When we have problems, we can turn to them, and they are willing to help us. Different from friends, they will help us wholeheartedly without expecting anything in return. So, I believe that family is the most important thing in our life.
