Most fast food restaurants here you can get an entire meal for around $8, but at a sit-down restaurant a cheap meal would still cost about $10, and another $2 for a beverage.

I generally prefer eating at a sit-down restaurant. But in Canada I can get a burger, fries and coffee for $10 from a McDonalds, and for a coffee, burger and fries at a sit-down restaurant pay $13-18. I'll probably still pay for the more expensive meal.
