Fasting in moderation can remove toxins and give the digestive system a rest. However, it must be done carefully so you do not waste away muscle tissue.
I am muslim and I have to do fasting for one month in Ramadhan each year. I think fasting can make us healthy. Our digestion system has to work all year long and like a machine, it also needs some time to rest. Ramadhan is the time when it has to rest. Fasting month always bring a miracle for me. I have such a severe gastritis that whenever I have my meal late, it will recur. However, in Ramadhan month, it does not happen. So, I believe that fasting makes us healthy.
Eating and digestion process use a lot of energy from your body. Therefore, fasting allows the body to rest.
