Obviously gun ownership works when the populace is trained in firearms and learns to respect a weapon. So in question, is it the culture that depends on the statistics or is it that the US is full of idiots?
I had to look up some statistics
59% of burglaries in Britain are "hot burglaries" (committed while the home is occupied by the owner/renter)... In the US (more lenient gun laws) has a "hot burglary" rate of 13%
Washington DC (strict gun laws) has a murder rate of 59.6 per 100,000. In Arlington, Virginia (next door and lenient gun laws) murder rate of 1.6 per 100,000
Murder rates in Russia (firearms are banned) are higher than the US
Murder rates in Norway (32% home gun ownership) are much lower than the US
In a 2014 article
ICELAND: firearms per 100 people: 30.3; firearm homicides per 100,000: 0; percent of homicides by guns: 0
AUSTRIA: firearms per 100 people: 30.4; firearm homicides per 100,000: .22; percent of homicides by guns: 29.5
SWITZERLAND: firearms per 100 people: 45.7; firearm homicides per 100,000: .77; percent of homicides by guns: 72.2
no one is saying gun control is an overnight fix for violence. but it is impossible to stop gun violence as long as guns are readily available.
lower the crime rate? are you serious? look at the stats for the first 5 years after the gun ban, and then tell me it works. I will grant you that 2014 was a very good year and the trend is angling down (for the moment). but let me ask this, can you attribute this decrease (over a decade after the gun ban) solely to the gun ban? I would offer not.
Gun control works,in every countries too.Its just how effective it is.For UK,it definitely is very effective and has helped lpwer the crime rate tremendously
no. that is false. in 2014 crime fell to its lowest levels since 1981.
It worked...but it had growing pains, it took a long time, and now crime is at a all time high there...
