name a businessman who hadn't been sued for being racist.

the ban on muslems is trump thinking "muslems are killing americans, the only thing I can think of to save lives is to ban muslem immigration until we find out what's going on" - not racist

if he said
"I hate muslems, I don't want them in my country, we're deporting all legal Mexicans" -racist.

No, it is the repeated racist comments and policies that make Trump racist. Anyone can make a racist joke without thinking about the implications. Trump has repeatedly called Mexicans criminals and rapists (though he was sure some of them might not be), he has called for a ban on all Muslims entering the country, and has said he isn't opposed to a national Muslim registry. He has said black people are lazy and has been sued repeatedly for racist practices which he settled out of court. This isn't a case of calling him racist because of one joke, it is calling him racist because he has shown himself to be racist repeatedly over a long period of time.

3 years, 3 months ago

ok, it was a racist joke. yes, so was trump's jokes. but it doesn't make them racists. unless you are going to call everyone who says a racist joke a racist.

stop acting as a mediator, you are not. You're not going to control the narrative with me, ok? To you he is racist because I think you turn yourself on and get hot and bothered when you get to falsely accuse someone. OK, I cam accept that he apologized for being racist in that case. Do you accept that he was racist, which necessitated the apology?

3 years, 3 months ago

how many time does the guy have to reject it??? CNN did a very common stunt to make guest look bad. they turned down the volume and he ask them what they said because he could hear them. This is all theatrics and the head cases eat it up like hot cakes.

3 years, 3 months ago

In 2000, Trump and his associates agreed to issue a public apology and fork over $250,000 in fines after it was discovered they did not tell a state lobbying commission that Trump secretly paid for newspaper ads against an Indian-run casino in the Catskills. The ads reportedly included pictures of cocaine lines and drug needles, while listing alleged grievances against the Mohawk Indian Nation, asking, ?Are these the new neighbors we want??

3 years, 3 months ago

and then he denied, and rejected the endorsement multiple times

He said he hadn't understood and had a bad earpiece. That doesn't really match what he says since he at least understood who he was being endorsed by, since he calls him by name, and what he represents since he says he doesn't know anything about white supremacy.

3 years, 3 months ago

did he ever apologize for one of his racist comments that you now admit he has made?

The View isn't a serious news program, it is daytime TV.

That aside, has Trump ever apologized for a racist comment? You admit that he has made some, but everyone says things that get misinterpreted. Has he ever stepped back from one and said he was sorry or that he was misunderstood?

Jokes aside, they did let him answer questions and talk more than they tend to do for each other. The questions were quite leading, but he can't have been expecting anything else.

3 years, 3 months ago

trump gets more media coverage than anyone. you think he couldn't retract a racist comment? he doesn't want to. If you say racist things and stand by them then you are a racist.

3 years, 3 months ago

No, he said normal people would explain what they meant or retract it if they said something racist. If you felt a business was treating you poorly and said "You people suck" and the person claimed you were being racist, you would explain what you meant. Trump doesn't do that. If he says something that comes across racist, he stands by it. When someone points out he has said something racist, he doesn't care. That is what takes it from being an occasional misunderstood statement to being racism.

3 years, 3 months ago

by historybuff's standards of saying a racist thing = racist.

3 years, 3 months ago

He has made racist comments, been sued for racist practices and proposed racist policies. Anyone can say something and be misinterpreted, but it has gone far beyond that with Trump.

3 years, 3 months ago

Trump made a couple racist comments, it doesn't mean he is racist.

3 years, 3 months ago

here is what happened: Trump declined the KKK guy endorsement. then in a CNN interview he said he would look into David Duke. right after that he declined him again on twitter, then again at the debate the next day.

do you think people like Dr. Carson are members of any group who agree with things no matter what?

3 years, 3 months ago
PsychDave
replied to...

After I posted my comment I looked into it and I was mistaken. Trump did eventually decline the endorsement. What I was remembering was him saying that he would have to look into them first before rejecting it. A little late he claimed he had a bad earpiece and couldn't understand, despite responding and calling Duke by name. When the outrage over his not immediately declining the enforcement happened, he did decline it.

3 years, 3 months ago
PsychDave
replied to...

He didn't decline the KKK endorsement, he said he didn't know the leader. There is a significant difference there in that he in no way distanced himself from their values.

Whether he means his comments to be racist or not is besides the point. He has said racist things. I understand that no one is perfect, but he has said and done things that are ethnically wrong because they are racist.

He wants black people to endorse him because it is something he can point to and say "I can't be racist because I have black friends". That doesn't work and isn't a defence.

As to why some black people would defend him, there are members of any group who agree with things no matter what. There were Jews who supported Hitler. Their support does not prove he was a good person. Trump is nowhere near as bad, but the defense doesn't work.

3 years, 3 months ago

Trump has gotten endorsements from certain black people. why would they endorse trump of they truly thought he was racist. nobody is perfect, and trump has said thibgs that could be tacken as racist, but I don't believe he means it as racist. if trump was racist why would he want blacks to endorse him, yet decline the KKK endorsement many times.

This reminds me of a old story. There are a bunch of crabs that are going to be cooked in a pot. One crab gets smart and starts to work himself into a position to climb out. The other crabs see him doing this and try to run over and pull him back into the pot. The moral of the story in this situation is that not everyone has a desire to be braindead, GOT THAT?

3 years, 3 months ago

Let's be clear. You have now slandered me which is a serious offense, ok? I said you were a hypocrite before, not knowing you aim to be one everytime you comment. Let me give you a prime example in your last comment:

" I want a racist, insulting, douche bag to go away. everyone here dislikes your low brow, conspiracy nut job arguments."

INSULTING... DOUCHE BAG?

"Everyone here"...Are you now the voice of the masses? where/when did this meet up take place? Do you think that you personally are everyone?

Low brow, conspiracy nut job? You are braindead. Everything i said is fact dealing with politics. You being a very stupid, dumbed down beyond belief member of society doesn't penalize me for your lack of knowledge. This is again, you, a hypocrite attempting to shove your faults onto me and that never works.

It's foolish to think that when someone is essentially telling you they're racist to not believe they're racist. Apart from his rhetoric however, his actions have been racist.

He settled both lawsuits.....he implemented company policies which forced African Americans to sign different leases, prohibited agents from showing them certain listings, etc.... Then the definition of racist you gave is meaningless. You're essentially saying racism doesn't exist. Since all traits associated with race are stereotypical in nature they are all justifiable.... This is a fallacy known as "moving the goal posts".

You gave me a standard which you would accept as proof. I've met that standard and now you're evading by negating your own standard of what constitutes a racist.

3 years, 3 months ago

I was criticizing the idea that him lying to pretend he is racist is an improvement over actually being racist. Being racist is a bad thing and harms the person, their future, and society as a whole. Having a presidential candidate run based entirely on lies is actually worse because it means that not only are they alright with causing hate and division, they aren't even doing it because they honestly believe in it. You can't trust anything they say in that case, so how could you trust them with power.

I also took your agreement to be to MilaAngel's comment since that was what immediately preceded it. Who were you really agreeing with?

3 years, 3 months ago

I think either myself or you have misconstrued the comment that i agreed with.

3 years, 3 months ago

he was responding to the comment that said he doesn't believe the horrible things he says. you then 100% agreed. if he is doing that then he is running entirely on lies and no one has any idea what he will do. you cannot elect someone who tells nothing but lies to get elected.

3 years, 3 months ago

He said he would expose the 28 pages. He said common core education is gone when he gets in. And as much as people like to slam him on both sides; he actually seems to be the most common sense bearing. He said in the debate that he would not want people to just have to sleep in the steet and republicans Rubio and Cruz were attacking him like he was the devil,.. for having compassion! And these are the guys that are chasing the evangelical vote!

3 years, 3 months ago

i agree 100%

3 years, 3 months ago

I don't think he's racist. I actually think he doesn't believe half of the bigoted, small minded things he says. If he gets elected, he'll be like: "JUST KIDDING, America. I actually have normal feelings about things."

I believe he's a smart enough business man to reach the depths of a demographic that no politician has pandered to before, just to get publicity and votes. Reckless as it is, maybe it's because he really thinks he can do something.

3 years, 3 months ago

Question...Is it racist if it's true?

3 years, 3 months ago

Well....the best I can do is show you that he acts based on racial discrimination. It's hard to find one statement that satisfies the definition as a whole.

The best quote I could find to support the claim was: "Laziness is a trait in blacks. It really is, I believe that"

Add to that the comments he made about Jews and their negotiation skills and you have 2 statements which would satisfy the stipulations you provided.

However, there is actually more.

When trump was president of his family's real estate he was sued for racial discrimination in his company practices. He settled the lawsuit and agreed to various stipulations. A few years later, he was sued again by the justice department for denying rental properties to black people based on their skin color. He once again settled that suit.

Another tell tale sign is his treatment of minorities as monoliths. That doesn't need much of an explanation.

When a group of his supporters beat a homeless Hispanic man, his response was to defend his supporters by claiming "they're passionate about this country".... That's good old nationalism at work here, the same thing that lifted the Nazis to power.

He is also engaged in race bating when it comes to Muslims. While he has not made statements as clearly racist against Muslims as he has against African Americans, he is clearly engaged in inflammatory rhetoric on the subject.

So, he makes generalizations based on race, he believes African Americans are inherently lazy, he believes Jews are inherently good negotiators, he's settled lawsuits involving racial discrimination on multiple occasions, he race-bates during his rallies, he defends the racial violence from his supporters; I'd say that's a fairly good case for calling him a racist... At least to some degree. He may not be a member of the kkk or the nazi party, but he definitely fits the definition you provided .

3 years, 3 months ago

I can't tell if you believe that, or you are making a weak attempt to quote Donald Trump...
