cheating on monogamy is not the same as which group of people in general arouse you. you can choose to limit the number of people you act on that arousal, but you can't control who gets you aroused.

sex, unlike drugs, is a basic human need, like food and water.

People who do drugs or cheat are seduced to the act by pleasure, if you're agreeing that the gay men of those times were drawn to the life threatening act of being with another man then you agree that they didn't choose to be seduced by the pleasure.

Why do people do illegal drugs?

Why do men cheat on their wives?

Answer me this. In countries where homosexuals are killed, why would a man CHOOSE to be gay if he knew he'd be mutilated or killed? Or back when homosexuality was illegal in the UK, why would a man CHOOSE to be gay if he knew he could go to prison.

Let's assume you have am innate drive to sleep with women. How does this support your belief that those with an innate desire to sleep with men are not gay, or are choosing to be?

Just because he's a man doesn't mean he tries or wants to sleep with as many women as he can.

The act is not what determines your sexuality. If a homosexual lives his life without acting on his desires he is still homosexual.

So you define sexuality by the act, not the desire? That would mean that until people have sex for the first time, their sexuality is undetermined.

The flaw in your argument is you are comparing an act to an innate part of someone. If you cheat on your wife, that was a choice. You aren't presenting a choice in being gay or not. You are presenting it as a choice between lying forever about who you are attracted to, or not. Somehow you believe that spending your entire life living a lie is the moral choice.

Could you spend your life with someone you felt no attraction to? Would you consider that a healthy relationship?

Desires are one thing, but pursuing desires is another

Same for homosexuality

If I have a wife and I have a thought to cheat on her does that make me a cheater? The active act of pursing that thought is called cheating

Nah, its deeper than just a choice. Its not like one day you sit down and be like: hey, i'm gonna choose my sexuality now.

so you get to choose what gives you an erection? I never knew physical attraction can be controlled at will!

so if you turned on some gay porn right now, you would totally get turned on?

Sure, two percent of the population just woke up and decided "I like dick now".
