@sosocratese it does seem arbitrary but it seems plausible . The only reason I think humanity will survive longer that that is because our natural instincts shown throughout history and evolution. You could consider it to be fight or flight. If something were to happen some would stay and fight for it others would run and survive.
How did you come up with that number? Seems a little arbitrary...
