11 people are on the agree side of this discussion, while 3 people are on the disagree side.
People are starting to choose their side.
It looks like most of the people in this community are on the agreeing side of this statement.
neveralone posted 9 arguments to the agreers part.
neveralone, monikofos and 9 visitors agree.
Nemiroff, jack_tim_45 and 1 visitor disagree.
I hope so to.
I have grown up surrounded by Christians. Each sect and congregation has their own ideas of what makes a good Christian, and most of them mean well and are good people. There are some groups (like the Westboro Baptist Church) who give the rest a bad name, and there are jerks and intolerant people of every faith, but that is individual differences, not built into the religion. I try to judge people based on their words and actions rather than what broad category they fall into.
As to your specific situation, I don't know the community enough to know if the shunning is a temporary thing, or if it is based on some long term animosity between the church and the rest of the community. I would hope that if you keep being a good person at least some will come around.
yes and no. there people who go to church but don't listen to what's said per say.
if they ask I'll tell them but I don't force them.i ts not insulting. I have found that people for the most part don't understand Christians so I welcome questions so that they have the right idea of what we are
Are there other people who are similarly treated (others from your parish/faith)?
It is common for people to be somewhat isolated for being different from the cultural norm, but that seems extreme. Shunning used to be fairly common against those who broke social rules (single mothers, etc). How overt is your faith (as in seeking to convert/educate others in the community)? I don't ask that insultingly, just try to understand their reactions since, as I said, they seem quite extreme.
so any ideas?
I mean the whole town kind
what do you mean community?
that sounds like school yard behavior
daggers staring into back. whispers with my name and saying "it's the Christian boy" bits and pieces mind u because they somehow find something interesting to do when I look there way.haha
also think I'm odd from what I hear but u don't get to hear much when u are avoided like the plague.so more like a gossip vine except it goes through the entire town and if I go anywhere everyone finds something else to do
in what way do they isolate you?
do they openly banish you?
or is there just a lacking of a religious community?
the community chooses isolation vs stoning.haha
USA, OK, Minco
social sciences are not as exact as physical science and there is much debate in the nature vs nurture confict.
in addition I'm going to assume that your community has not actively attacked or criticized your beliefs. 1 or 2 friends busting your balls does not count as a community attack btw.
in which country do you live in?
just interested in what science will say since my society is supposed to influence me
to explain further I don't live in a Christian community. I've been here all my life. I haven't had a phone or any other outlet to diff. society's until recently. this is all the questions I can think u will ask if there's more.I am willing to answer them
