Fighting over there is what lead to people in the middle east hating the US in the first place. There are better solutions, the problem is that they are long term, and don't play as well in the media.
Violence makes violence makes violence makes violence makes violence. Violent societies produce warriors. If you need to fight, you are weak. If we're fighting them over there it's because of weakness, necessity or out of moral obligation. And given the nature of society, the first two are more likely.
Americanism is just a meme and hardly describes anyone more than Americans.
