If you want to educate your children at home, and you are meeting the requirements of the curriculum, feel free. It could be harmful to your children in terms of social interaction, but if there is something about public schooling that you disagree with that strongly, you should have another option. Religious reasons are one example, but so is safety. There have been school shootings (not many but enough to worry parents) which could lead an already stress prone parent to worry more. I have yet to hear of a home school shooting.

Home schooling is a disadvantage in terms of normal peer to peer interactions. The children are sheltered in a way, which makes them more naïve and gullible. Also, if the parent isn't very bright or doesn't know how to teach and maintain the children's attention then they aren't going to get a good education.

You are wasting a huge amount of time teaching only one or two children inside your house instead of an entire classroom.
