I disagree, but believe there is more to it.

As a simple action; a very basic instinct that many species have, eating meet is purely natural and therefore ethical.

But when we consider the way some animals(who are being raised and prepared) are treated in many situations, it isn't so clear cut and dry to think it's ethical. Yes we are not the ones abusing the animals, but aren't we technically condoning it if we by from those who are?

What I mean is tigers are carnivores.. They eat animals N humans too... But are we letting them eat....

we're at the top. is that so bad.

2 years, 6 months ago

Nothing like omnivores and carnivores is left now... explain please

2 years, 6 months ago

I have killed many animals and never have I seen one cry. also they are killed as humanly as possible

2 years, 6 months ago

is it still not immoral to eat a corpse? also animals don't have as much feelings as ur sentence sounds like. for example my dog shows less emotion than a teaspoon. they rely on instinct unlike us.

If we go by your logic too, it cannot be wrong for plants coz we are not killing them and eating... Whereas you kill the animal's, take out their flesh and then eat it... Animals also have life, feelings, they too feel pain. They cry when we hunt them and then bring to slaughter houses, they too value their life as much as we do.... N that omnivores thing... Nothing like omnivores and carnivores is left now, humans are dominating everyone.... With all these weapons with us do you think tigers can eat us.... Biological system is completely distorted.... And humans are the major cause for that...

I live in haryana where there are actually a lot or farms and the wheat is a rabi crop.... Whenever a crop bears fruit it dies.... And wheat also dies first then we harvest it.... And I am very sure about this..

u r comparing completely intellectual beings. if it's wrong for one it's wrong for all.

I farm a lot actually. I was following ur logic. also wheat u definitely kill when u harvest it.

2 years, 6 months ago
Radhikadhawan

Whereas there is no such thing in case of animals.... You are comparing completely different biological entities.... We kill them. That should be avoided

2 years, 6 months ago
Radhikadhawan

We never kill the seeds rather we help in seed dispersal.. N what you are saying is not relevant.... First you are saying we are killing plants and then you say we are killing the possibility of a new plant... I must tell you farmers sell half of the produce and half they keep for growing new plants.. N plants are not cut before they die..

the apple has seeds that u kill when u eat it therefore still death. the potato itself is not dead until u pick it. if u actually buy a potato from a farmers market and give it some water it will grow so it's still Alive till u cook it

2 years, 6 months ago
Radhikadhawan

When we pick a apple it is only a part. We are not cutting the whole the tree out of the ground. And potato plant dies first then we pull it out..

2 years, 6 months ago

pulling a potato out of the ground is killing it.picking an apple is killing it.

2 years, 6 months ago

Do you know we never eat alive plants.... They die first and then we harvest them... But you kill alive animals

2 years, 6 months ago
neveralone

wrong vine but will answer. they are alive just like animals so to say we shouldn't eat one means we shouldn't eat the other

2 years, 6 months ago
Radhikadhawan
replied to...

I would like to tell you that plants are the main source of food... They are autotrophs and prepare their own food using sunlight.... So it is also easier to consume and digest them... N about that nutrition thing, animals provide nutrients in a very complex form and it is observed that vegetarians visit hospitals 22% less than non vegetarians. Also there is a difference between animals and plants as animals have to struggle to survive... Also when animals are kept in farms they suffer a lot. Making someone suffer is really bad.

not right now it doesn't lol.

and no way can most farm animals survive without humans.

2 years, 6 months ago

i mean to say that we shouldnt stop eating meat. meat is a major source of nutrients like protiens. Meat contain fibres which help us with carbohydrates. Meat cannot be replaced by any OTHER SUBSTITUTE. we need meat. Meat is necessary.

2 years, 6 months ago
neveralone
replied to...

from experience I have to disagree. I live in Oklahoma and we have a lot of farming and when an animal escapes we have to find it that day or its chance of survival plummets.

2 years, 6 months ago

also plants are alive so we would have to stop eating them too. which leaves us nothing

2 years, 6 months ago
neveralone

r u joking or agreeing? technically either way were omnivores. the rest I agree

2 years, 6 months ago
Radhikadhawan
replied to...

They don't need anything to survive... They know how to live without human interference

2 years, 6 months ago

meat's so tasty hmmmmm. yummmmm. i love the smell i love the taste. i cant stop. iam carnivorous.

2 years, 6 months ago

1)awesome! 2) will it taste the same?

yeah we have had lots of animals get away. we would find them two days later dead. they had zero survival instincts

2 years, 6 months ago
neveralone
replied to...

so what's exactly wrong?

2 years, 6 months ago

we are working in it. synthetic meat is a prime field for research at the moment. we'll be able to grow meat with the specific nutrient and taste quality of our choice... eventually.

however, what will happen to these animals after we stop farming them? they don't look fit to survive, and even wild animals are increasingly being pushed out into tighter and tighter quarters. this farm existence is all they can do to survive as a species. we evolved them to be like that. it's in their genes.

2 years, 6 months ago
Radhikadhawan
replied to...

Yes they are below us... We are social animals and they are wild animals.. And as humans we should be more constructive and not destructive..

2 years, 6 months ago
neveralone

so they are below us in ur opinion? if so then why would it be wrong? if not why not if it's only because they arnt as smart?

But we have more brains than them

2 years, 6 months ago
neveralone

why is the killing wrong? they kill each other

2 years, 6 months ago
Radhikadhawan
replied to...

I am against killing the animal too

2 years, 6 months ago

after the animal is dead do u not think we should honor it in some form?

2 years, 6 months ago
Radhikadhawan
replied to...

Honouring does not mean killing

2 years, 6 months ago

also animals eat each other so are they immoral

2 years, 6 months ago
neveralone
replied to...

no. we killed them and think there life has value so we should use it all. how else would u honor a creature u killed?

2 years, 6 months ago
Radhikadhawan
replied to...

Hahaha. Honouring.. Are we like someone so superior that if a animal is coming in use to us it is the animal's privilege..

2 years, 6 months ago
neveralone
replied to...

I would argue right now it is essential for meat but not to keep me warm.haha. though technically if u live in Montana or somewhere else like it u use the skin for a blanket. this might seem weird to u but think of it like this. when native Americans killed a animal they used everything. the skin for clothes and shelter, the bones for tools, the meat for food, and the intestines for bow strings and wire. they thought that it was very important to do this. I think something along those lines. when we kill animals we should use all of it. life should never be taken lightly and this is a way of honoring the animal in a way.

2 years, 6 months ago
Radhikadhawan
replied to...

Yeah.. U live in a place where it is really essential to eat meat... It is really cold over there in America and you need meat to keep you warm as well.

2 years, 6 months ago
neveralone
replied to...

I have seen it all my life. have u lived where it was okay to eat meat? I lived on a farm all my life. gore for the most part doesn't make me sick. it was simply a part of life.

2 years, 6 months ago
Radhikadhawan
replied to...

Yes, but we should minimise eating meat... Animals are also like human beings... We social animals and they are primitive animals... Will it be right to kill them... They too have blood, organs and all... Does the picture of all that slaughter not make you sick?

2 years, 6 months ago

I guess I'll take up where he left off.

that's really to make sure they don't go extinct.

biologically we r made to eat meat.

would u say it's unethical to eat salad? plants and animals are both alive and we eat both so if it's unethical for one it's unethical for another

we do pit a value on their life. and people are willing to pay for it

say? the chicken is noones pet so society puts less value one it's life

You really think it is all right.. You have made wildlife sanctuaries, national reserves, banned using animal products to protect animals and it is just all right if you kill an animal and eat it as if the life of the animal does not have any value... If someone says anything to your pets, it's not right but when you eat chicken it's just all right!!!!!

2 years, 6 months ago
neveralone
replied to...

hey:-).OK yeah that pretty much right.

2 years, 6 months ago

besides. of you take red meat out of the equation, people who eat chicken, or especially fish, are far far healthier than vegeterians. it's us bacon and steak lovers that give meat a bad reputation.

2 years, 6 months ago

https://authoritynutrition.com/7-nutrients-you-cant-get-from-plants/

even if some plants have a few of these it is in inadequate amounts. and also being a healthy vegetarian would be impossible before global trade shipping exotic and necessary plant foods from across the world... which burns a ton of fuel and pollutes our planet.

2 years, 6 months ago
neveralone
replied to...

we are though even if we don't accept it. look at ur teeth. they are for both meat and veggie. we need both to live a healthy life. sure u can get it from dif. veggies instead but the primary source is meat. I wouldn't say eating meat is unethical (sorry bacon lover) but I wouldn't say not eating it is either.

2 years, 6 months ago
Radhikadhawan

Being omnivores is also our choice...if we don't kill animals and eat them we won't be omnivores

people who don't eat meat are less healthy, especially young children.

weaker muscles and weaker brain if they start young

Really? It is not any rule or compulsion. It is our own choice.. Some people think that it is OK to eat meat and some find it disgusting.

2 years, 6 months ago

meat is part of our natural diet.

Plz elaborate...

2 years, 6 months ago

ethics are subjective.
eating meat is the most natural of things.
