I know it was probably murder, but it shows how people with guns can be paranoid and kill others who may not be intruders

the question is whether killing someone breaking into your house is murder, not is shooting your girlfriend in the bathroom murder. just because he claimed he thought she was an intruder doesn't make it relevant to the discussion.

I'd give them a chance to leave with their life. Then I'd give them a chance to leave with a missing limb, if all else fails then they lose their life.

Uh, ever heard of castle law? It means you can blow anyone's head off who enters your house threatening you or your family. Do you think that it should be illegal? Most people including myself would murder someone who broke into my house.
