Everything we experience is filtered both through our physical senses and through our consciousness, which inherently includes our preconceived notions and biases. Other creatures have different senses than we do and likely experience the world differently than we do.

Even with the aid of technology and measurement instruments, we still have to filter the result through our consciousness, as well as design them using our limited abilities. I think it's extremely likely that as many things as we know to measure, there as many more or many times more that we have never conceived of because we lack the senses to detect even the effects of these things.
