and please, don't think I'm calling you sexist. the right tends to think every liberal is calling them a bigot as soon as we disagree with something... although it is often true, it is not here.
if anything, I'm accusing you of things that the majority is guilty of on both sides, and indeed are just human nature.
1) generalization. it's just easier, and basic categories is how our brains evolved to function... however that doesn't mean it is adequate to describe reality. and liberals do this aplenty as well, just for different groups, like trump supporters.
2) peer hype. I don't think your sexist. your probably more nuanced than most Republicans when the first enter the debate stage. is this your first debate app? but in the case of the ghost busters movie, I think you jumped on the hype train and bashed it based on going along with the crowd. basic human nature. (it is a bad movie, but I don't remember you giving an critique outside of the selection of cast)
I know I've been challenging your points wherever you posted.... but your pretty much the only serious debate I have here at the moment. I've found my middle ground with neveralone, Christian and mmjd tend to vanish, and najam and thereal are a waste of time. so I am enjoying our interactions.
you can't open any for profit business that can discriminate against any group, men or woman, gays or Christians (sorry, referencing a previous debate).
have you ever seen a restaurant only for women? a restaurant can certainly market to a certain group (sports bars for men) but if a gay, black, female, transgender, atheist, Arab wants to enter, no one can bar her entry as long as she is a paying customer who isn't creating an undo scene (her presence is not a scene).
and I'm not sure what the big deal with the ghost busters movie. who cares about the gender of the cast. the woman are extremely talented and deserved the roles. the problem was with the writing and directing. the were all made to be comic relief and nobody played any form of serious role (like the the one with the crazy hair in the original). in fact the worst actor was the guy who plays Thor (SPOILERS) until he got possessed and became bad ass, but til then he was an idiot.
the movie did suck, but there was no way for the Internet trolls to know that before release. and if the only reason someone hates it is because of the gender of the actors, then that's pretty clearly sexist.
It is true that women should have the same rights as men. The same opportunities, the same freedom.
But they should know where the limits of feminism are and know when to stop their demands.
Oh and would be cool to let other do what the hell they want. If i want to open a restaurant only for men, that's my freedom. Women have no right to force me to open one for them too. And that's where i think women abuse of their demands. When i see those movies remakes with woman actors... come on please, how desperate can they be? This is the limit that they keep crossing.
yes, we all have different strengths, which is why diversity is a good thing for any organization: government, corporate, or military.
large #s of coal workers and all the other listed professions are men... those are all difficult, often dangerous jobs... but women aren't shying away from these jobs, they want the opportunity, and the right to take that job as well. what's wrong with that?
women banded together because they were kept down. are you saying they never were kept down? or that they only started banding together recently after achieving many victories? they banned together when they were very much discriminated against, banned from any job, banned from making most choices. men are more than free to band together, the thing is the dominant group rarely has the motivation to band together. nothing else is stopping them.
what you are also missing is individualism. the general can only go so far. women are usually calm and understanding, but I've known women who are far from it. intense, aggressive, competitive. women are usually weaker than men, but look at women weight lifters, woman fighters, athletes. most woman may not be able to compete with marines, but some will kick most of their asses and absolutely should be allowed to serve. it will hurt us to not allow them. coal mining may not be a pretty job, but a single mom in coal country should have the right to take that job if she is capable of it. and women have proven to be capable.
thinking in general terms is easy. you only need general stereotypes, and any variations, exceptions, and extraneous situations typically disappear in the large sample size.... but in a sample of over 150million people... that's millions of people with variations and situations that your oversimplified views forgets.
And for the sake of the argument, i'll let you know how i think about this equality.
I feel that men and women should not be 'equal' but rather 'compatible'. There are areas that women handle so well that it is really better to let them do and concentrate men minds on ther tasks. For instance most women have been proven to have a calm and understanding attitude in business negociations, while men's testosterone often blocks them and business negociations take way too long and many never close.
We should use this compatibility to work together and in harmony, ofc we should have the same rights. Just like the human rights that every human deserve. But some women are too demanding. Being a man has his advantages right? But do women also take in count the disadvantages of being a man? No. 90% of mine workers are men. 95% of house renovation workers are men. A man does not 'stick together' with other men for the sake of gender equality, thus women get in a solid block while men just fight within themselves like they always did.
Women only see the advantages and they want them too. They dont care if they deserve them or not. Their thinking is ''Men have them so WE should have them too'' Its almost like stealing.
Here's the problem: ignorant people like you are so many in the U.S.
Why ignorant? Because when you see 'equality' you think that i'm speaking about some rights or privileges. No. Firstly i said lower that i'm speaking ajout biological equality. Secondly my question doesnt specify what kind of equality i'm talking about, its impulsive to imply that i mean something that isnt written and then call me stupid for that.
But hey, you sure are a feminist. Seeing this statement offended you to the point you couldnt even read the comment right under yours.
women and men should get the same privileges but some women do fight for what I think is no reason. I remember seeing a news article about why air conditioners were sexist.... people are stupid sometimes
Some of the questions on this app show the lack of intelligence of some people on here. men and women are equal, but history has shown that women have been oppressed against since the beginning of recorded history. It is only now in the 21st century that women are finally gain the equal rights that men get. Im a man, and im disgusted by the fact that women have been treated so poorly throughout human history. If one gender is superior to the other, its women. Afterall.. there would be no humans in general, if not for women.
Good question, biologicaly speaking. And all the social differences that the biological differences create.
But it seems like today, in western society, some women fight to get more and more privileges that they don't deserve.
What do you mean by equal? Biologically? Legally? Socially?
