I love iron man and Dr strange but I prefer darker themes. I find the new television series of daredevil a exception for marvel. But I prefer batman. and most DC characters. I never liked the boyscout superman though.
On their current forms, I would have to agree with you getmurked. DC has become (generally) more gritty and realistic while Marvel has stayed more fantastic and surreal. There are exceptions on both sides, but that has been my experience with them. They have gone through many changes to get there and I expect they will continue to change with the times. I guess I would rather my comics/cartoons/movies be a fantastical escape from reality than a gritty look at society's underbelly, but it is a personal preference, not a judgment that one is good and the other not.
Personally. I would like DC better if it wasn't for deadpool and the xmen. they are my favorite. But some of the DC characters are amazing. thanking God that we have both lol
no, i think the dc universe is much more interesting and realistic, but that is my approach upon it. not a fan of superman, because he is too powerful, and almost god like, which i find cheap. but the like of batman, green arrow, flash, john constantine, nightwing and all thier enemies present to me a more fun, engaging and relatable account, compares to the although fun, ridiculoue marvel with thier absurdly superhuman characters. dc is probaly more dark and cunning, while marvel is more lighthearted and witty. it all depends on your preference of characters, the amount of realism and atmosphere you like.
While there are characters in both universes that I enjoy, I tend to prefer Marvel. I find there to be more variety, and there are some DC characters that I have never really enjoyed (like Superman) because they refuse to kill, even if it would prevent hundreds, or in the case of Lex Luther millions of deaths. Joker kills people in Gotham every time he escapes, and no one stops him. I appreciate the moral code involved, but there had to come a point when you stop saying "naughty naughty" and stop the villain from killing again. Superman could end wars, save millions, but instead he goes to work and tunes out the majority of the crises so that humanity learns from their mistakes. That's great for the species as a whole, but kinda hard on the individuals who happen to be on a plane he let crash while chatting at the water cooler.
Elaborate if you disagree.
