Truth. Hahaha. Didn't think that one through a whole lot. My point is that they are two entirely different bands of two different genres, and in that sense it becomes difficult to find similarities, as the question seems to suggest people are doing. Thank you for calling out my extremely contradictory comment.
By that statement you clearly compared the two bands which is not good ,because they have their own style of singing. And no one knows what may happen 5years from now.
1D is not my kind of music either, but I doubt they will be as easily forgotten as you seem to think. Backstreet Boys and NSynch were similar bands, and we still remember them.
I would like to point out that, by listing how Metallica and 1D are different, you are comparing them. While stating that they cannot be compared, you compare both their quality and staying power.
Metallica has withstood the test of time. In 5 years, nobody will even remember who 1D are. They are truthfully a talentless 'boy band' which tend to be popular in the short term and not in the long term. Metallica is one of the most definitive heavy metal bands. Not comparable.
and on top of that I prefer heavy metal and rock not being hugely popular as in my opinion a smaller fan base allows for easier feedback for bands to fine tune thier sound. also pop music as it were is a reflection of what is popular at the time look at the days when bands like iron madien and black sabeth were on top of the pops
thats the same with all fandoms some of the people are just out to bash on what they dont like which is wrong. I my self am a huge fan of rock and heavy metal and really dont like the kind of music that 1D and other such bands make but I can say the majority have a lot of talent and deserve to popular if thats what people like and want. the bands and singers I have a probkem with are the ones that dont actually do the work like writing the actual music or lyrics.
Yes. cause it seems like most of the Metallica fandoms are so butthurt cause their idols are not that popular unlike before.
BTW thanks for commenting
I can understand that perspective. I don't feel that popular bands should be exempt from criticism, but I can see where you are coming from. Bashing them because they are not your style of music accomplishes nothing.
psyh dave , there's a little typo error with my topic. let me rephrase it. "mettalica fans should not criticize bands like 1D just because u don't want them being that popular.
Comparison does not mean to equate them. Of you can explain why you like Metallica more than 1D, you have compared them. Comparisons could be made on concert attendance, album sales, lyrical content, or music style, and most would probably favour Metallica, but the comparison could still be made.
Stylistically, it is like comparing apples to oranges, but that doesn't mean comparisons could not be made.
as if people aren't allowed to have a different taste in music. I mean, I'm more on the Metallica side of music, but I still find it so wrong for people to criticize bands like One Direction just because you don't like them being that popular.
different genre different messages they should never be compared. if we are going to compare them then regardless of fan base we should wait till new bands have even a modicum of the longevity of bands like Metallica
