I said it has drawbacks... but costs are rising while wages are not. more and more people are living paycheck to paycheck. if this trend continues people will not be able to patron their local stores. if you don't live in the heart of midtown your local stores will slowly go out of business until anything not in the heart of a city will be desolate.
if with minimum wage stores will cut back on employment, what will happen if stores just go out of business completely, wouldn't that be even worse for employment?
Making minimum wages higher will raise prices and cut back on workers. It is simple economics. Businesses will refuse to higher less educated workers who are just starting out in the work force. They will higher more educated experienced workers. Why do owners higher illegal immigrants? Cheap!
The minimum wage only works if it is a starting wage. Simple economics state that.
