my Grandfather is reading a newspaper now. he likes it cause he can pick what stories to read instead of watching the news where they pick, and he can avoid technology and Web browsing that is difficult and confusing to him.
I said they are of great value, and the NYT is more influential on the web.
If you watch the news, many stories start with "as reported in the New York Times" or something similar. Newspapers tend to break the story and television picks it up.
They are of great value, especially in smaller cities. Most old folks get their news and what is going on in their community from newspapers.
