This is a situational statement. There are definitely times when it is prudent to NOT try than to try and fail. You wouldn't want to try and ride a "Red Bull Rampage" course (look that sh*t up) if you think you are likely to fail. You wouldn't want to TRY and do an underwater straight jacket escape (Houdini style) if you are likely to fail. You wouldn't want to TRY and get into an MMA ring with a pro fighter if you're not trained. You wouldn't want to TRY and jump between buildings (parkour style) if you are likely to fail......
