Smoking is legal and until it isn't, people should be allowed to do it freely. You can't buy cigarettes with food stamps, so this is a false connection anyway.
Anyone who needs government assistance to purchase food should avoid frivolities such as cigarettes, alcohol, entertainment. Sadly, many people do not see it that way and think if they want something they should be able to have it. I think food stamps should not cover junk food or soda, only wholesome foods.
It sounds ridiculous if people on food stamps but they still smoke. They need help from the government but on the other hand, they can buy some cigarettes. They are supposed to stop smoking and use the money to buy some food so that they don’t need food stamps anymore. I should say they are shameless if they receive food stamps but they still keep smoking.
We need to ban all cash tobacco purchases and accept only credit cards or debit cards or checks and every person on food stamps would be on a database that can be accessed online and when you buy a pack of cigarettes you cannot buy them if you are on welfare.
