Photography and painting are activities showing a creation but they have different ways to show such beautiful creation. Photography is an activity that requires the ability to capture beautiful objects while painting requires the ability to paint. A person who likes photography means he/she probably likes painting.

The only similarity I can see is that it's visual art. Photography is more mechanical, yet a more accurate representation of empirical reality. Painting can come purely from the imagination, with no basis in empirical reality. Plus, the methods and techniques and execution are wildly different.
