they are warming ties fast with turkey, but I'm not sure how good it is to have direct involvement in the middle east, especially for a hands on no nonsense regime like russia. it's going to blow up in their face.

what did Obama do? steadily stabilize the region while taking the target off of the US. when was the external terrorist attack on us? and didn't you want the US flight? one of trumps main points was for us to stop policing the world and concentrate on internal issues...

turkey shot down a Russian plane, a border line act of war, not that long ago. they've managed to pull back from the brink of war but they are far from allies.

Syria is a shell of its former self. they have been gutted by civil war. it will be decades before they are a significant power in the middle East, if ever.

Syria is a major portion of the Middle East conflict. I also believe they are jumping in bed with Turkey.

I don't understand why you think that. they gave influence in Syria because they are propping up a murderous dictatorial regime. where else do they have more influence than America?

He has an ear to both sides of the Syrian issue (superficial it may be), but it was undeniably a power move. The US has been barred from negotiations, and Russia is getting closer to every middle eastern power. Considering the US flight from the world stage, Russia has been on the rise.

please explain how he has a controling influence in the middle East. obviously he does in Syria as he is propping up a dictator. other than that Russia is a marginalized secondary power.

On the global stage Putin regularly has more impact than Obama, but that is because Obama respects the law and operates within it. Putin does things that the American people would (hopefully) never tolerate from their president. Imprisoning political opponents and peaceful protestors, waging wars while denying his troops are present, blatantly rigging referendums (Crimea) and many more things. All of these things would result in backlash and potentially impeachment for an American president.

yes, he took the sanctions like a man and did nothing in response cause he knows he's guilty lol.

short a conspiracy theory about America bluffing to justify an attack (ala 9/11, proof please) he did it, and his governments denial is as useless as the denial of doping which was confirmed and everything else lol.
