i agree tjat it might be a more backed war, but in the long run that will cause standing issues and distrust among us and russia which will lead to a bigger war..and as to nukes, i think everyone is agreed to some point of view that nuclear warfare destroys all, so everyone should be on the same plane there
I have no doubt there will be war by proxy (ie fighting through allied nations) similar to what is happening in Ukraine, but I doubt it will come to open war between Russia and the West. As I_voyager said, war is just too expensive and no nation that has nuclear capability can ever really be defeated because if they have nothing to lose, they will most likely launch. All global leaders know that, so an open war between the West and Russia is very unlikely. The worst I expect is that the US or other Western nations will move troops in to support the Ukraine military, but nominally the war will still be between the Ukrainian military and Russian backed separatists, rather than US vs Russia.
im not so sure
they wont engage in a nuclear war but they have been funding thier military excessively for the past few years, and have tramped over many treaties with countries such as ukraine
something is bound to happen, and the U.S. troops stationed in europe are calling for back up
Are they preparing for war or are they just asserting themselves more?
At the moment I disagree, but not vehemently. There was a period of time where I was quite worried about this actually. I've gone through a lot in my head over what I'd choose to do if Russia went to war with the west. But my brother made a good argument... He said that modern warfare is just too expensive and a massive state like Russia couldn't engage in a war with a country like America without it just ruining both nations.
Russia may engage in war with smaller nations like it has in Ukraine. But it won't engage in a full-scale war like the ones we've seen in the past. I think. I hope!
