I agree...but these holes make science more wonder & interesting

even the holes has got its science

the answer: you don't. for all you know your just a brain plugged into the matrix. your family, your hometown, your reality, you have faith they exist.

faith is not black and white, and belief in reality, in repeated events, or in repeatable verified, and tested knowledge, is not the same as blind faith with little evidence. making them sound equal is not genuine.

how do you know your family is real?

The universe, everything you see. How do you really know it's real?

How do you know that everything is real?

technically? no. I know it's real because it's proven

2 years, 7 months ago

So you don't believe that gravity is real?

2 years, 7 months ago
makson

I don't believe/think that will happen. I know it will happen. Knowledge and faith are different.

2 years, 7 months ago

Gravity will still be there regardless of whether we have an equation or not

2 years, 7 months ago

I mean aside from calculations and everything, because calculations are just measurements

2 years, 7 months ago

When you jump, you trust that you'll fall down, right? You trust it so much because of all the prior experience you've had with it, and because it's been shown to be reliable. Because you know it's reliable, you inherently trust it. That's faith.

gravity on earth is not same like in other galaxies and it has nothing to do with faith. It's complex mathematical calculation and trip to moon has proven it.

2 years, 7 months ago

Yes, we've observed gravitys effects on others planets, but how do we know it has the same mechanics there? If we assumed that gravity worked the same way on all different levels, then imagine thw surprise when we discovered quantum mechanics, where some laws are thrown out the window. You guys have to understand that much of what we know are based on assumptions and faith. How do you really know gravity is the same on earth as it is in another galaxy?

why would they look at every single planet? It's like stating "U have no proof that every human eat. Have you saw every human eating?"

the law of gravity is a simple mathematical equation that describes the strength of gravity between 2 masses. nothing more.

the law of gravity is a very small part of the theory of gravity.

dumbass.

It has been measured, therefore the law you just quoted which predicts it's strength. and it absolutely exists. you don't know what you are talking about. as usual.

2 years, 7 months ago

Lmao psychdave you f***goats so shut up, your dick raw from it!

oh really Makson, scientists have looked at every single planet to check if it is orbitting a star? damn you must know some shit the rest of the world doesnt....

And no, gravity is not a theory, it is a law thats why its called the "Universal LAW of Gravity, you withering pile of impotent shit. do you know anything or were you born stupid? What is today known as "gravity" could actually be the effect of a completely different force. There is no explanation for gravity and so it has not been measured because it has not been proven.

Lmao and psychdaves pussy bitch says hes not going to talk about me and then proceeds to write a whole paragraph on me lmfao, get on doze nutz biatch!

2 years, 7 months ago

So that you have a jumping off point if you were interested, this is a brief explanation of scientific theory versus law and what each one means and describes.

You seem to be making a common mistake of people who do not know much about science. When you say it is a theory, that does not mean we are less sure.

2 years, 7 months ago

I don't understand why people feel science is some conspiracy, especially considering how decentralized science is, the conspiracy would have to involve millions of individuals across every nation and thousands of institutions! and to what end?

this is ludicrous.

on the other hand, what do opponents of science have to gain? oil companies, tobacco companies have billions of dollars at stake. they have selfish reasons to lie. they are monolithic top down organizations with a limited number of heads to collude with.

this should be obvious.

yes, so that's an oversimplifcation of how we measure gravity of planets, then how do we measure gravity of stars?

2 years, 7 months ago
makson
replied to...

We checked gravity by telescopes, we saw every planet is spinning around it's star.

2 years, 7 months ago
Nemiroff
replied to...

yes it is a theory... and we have measured it in many galaxies.

do you ever verify the information you get from your pseudo science websites?

I can explain how we measure it but it isn't that difficult and technical. I think you will benefit from some objective googling.

I will give you a hint. how do we know the gravity of local stars? or our own neighboring planets? we've never been there either! we haven't been past the moon! clearly we have another method, and that exact method we used on Jupiter is what we used on other galaxies. it's a surprisingly simple method.

and the result is the same everywhere we look, including outside of our galaxies.

2 years, 7 months ago

Gravity: A theory.

I believe gravity is real, no doubt about it, but how can we say gravity is a universal constant if we haven't measured it everywhere? What if gravity worked differently in another galaxy and we just can't measure it? It's assuming that gravity is a universal constant.

cause "thereal aside" totally signifies obsession.

he has regressed from trolling to delusions. his last 3 retorts haven't made sense in any context. he either ran out of any sensible trollings and is grasping for straws, or stopped taking his meds.

at least he kept it short. hurray for small miracles.

Can you not respond like a grown up? These tantrums and whining because the same people demonstrate you are wrong repeatedly just make you look like a child. You may be a child, but if you want to be treated like an adult, acting like one would be a good first step.

Your infantile responses here just show that you have no real response.

thereal aside, this is an important question to ask.

first off, holes can imply different things. is there holes in the knowledge, absolutely, no human claims to have perfect knowledge of all, and science readily admits where it does not know. as I've said many times, it's ability to say "we don't know" and not just make up a dogma is what gives it credibility.

holes can also he holes in logic, and in that I will say heck no, at least not in established theory.

example: gravity.
we are missing so many details regarding gravity including the very basics of how the attraction works over such massive distances. Yet the things we do know are certainty. the strength, the speed, they are not disputable, although anyone is welcome to try.

gravity is an undisputed fact, but the theory will be forever incomplete, because scientists and children can't help but keep asking why and how til the end of time.

if ALL the galaxies are moving away AND the father they are the faster they are moving away, has only one logical conclusion.

the only holes are in your logic.

2 years, 7 months ago
Nemiroff
replied to...

if they are bouncing around they wouldn't all be moving away, some would be in the rebound genius.

2 years, 7 months ago

For example, the theory that the universe is expanding is based on the ideo that galaxies are moving away from each other, yet this is not proof the universe is expanding because it is just as likely that the universe is a fixed sized and the galaxies are just "bouncing" around off the edge of the universe.
