You should ideally make an effort to be respectful to their culture, but not at the expense of your own.

it also depends, if you are trying to make friends, get a favor, or bring someone to your side or an issue you may want to be more adaptable to their views, but that's not in consideration of others but for your own benefit.

in general, the golden rule is don't be a dick.
