the main reason this is unlikely is because Putin thinks Russia is still a super power. as a result he still seems to think of the world in an outdated "sphere of influence" system.
as long as the Russian government perpetuates this idea then being allies won't be possible, because they see the west as being against them. it also won't be possible if they keep intervening in their neighbors. like when they stole Crimea and how they are trying to destabilize Ukraine.
good way to think about it. I would always rather make friends than enemies.
Our president Putin is trying to warm up relations with the US. Together we can be great ally of each other. As you all know, making friends is better than making enemies. I'm not pro-Putin, but i'm heavily interested in an US-Russia alliance. Afterall we are all people.
