Social media is never inherently good or bad. It depends on how we make use of it, the same is for guns. In the hand of a murderer, it's dangerous. But in the hand of a police, it can be used to protect. I am guilty of wasting my time in facebook. It's not the app's fault. It's mine. The burden and the utility I can get are the results of my choices and actions.

Social media therefore has less harms because it's just you deciding stupid things like wasting time with it or what have you. Although, there are harms of cyberbullying. But then again, this is about wasting time and killing the brain. The good that it gives, on the other hand, is worth more than the damage you create for yourself.

I have my opinion different from yours. I think that it depends on how you use it. social media is a powerful source for spreading awareness and for connecting with people. In a way this app is social and is helping us learn and make the world aware of our opinions.

You can use Twitter to follow scientists and philosophers or Kanye and the Kardashians. Whether there is any value depends on how you use it.

No, I don't think so.
We ourselves are responsible to kill our brain.
Just stop blaming others for your pain.

it's totally upto you how you use it.

Sir not selfies. Many important topics are manifested in fb and twitters in which we can join to share and see the point of view of millions in one look. When we go outside we will never find million people point of view in a place. So social media is a mass connective device

the best way to expose yourself is not a selfi, it.is to get up walk outside, not take a selfi or tweet, and talk to your friends face to face

4 years, 1 month ago

Not at all.It is the best opportunity for self exposure

While lots of things on Facebook are just fluff and drama, there are other things that are not. People post about social issues, tragedies and oppression that otherwise have no way of getting their voices heard.

4 years, 1 month ago

I agree that most of it is but it still is important because of the rest of it. the stuff that informs, enlightens, and gets heard.

4 years, 1 month ago

also if I'm watching the news and the anchor says "this just in from Facebook" will I pat attention as much as if the anchor says "this just in from the police department"

4 years, 1 month ago

do you agree that 90% of stiff posted on social media is trash, and worthless?

4 years, 1 month ago

calling 911 is priority1 that takes a couple minutes then you record.

4 years, 1 month ago

after an emergency one should call 911, not tweet them.

4 years, 1 month ago

do you want to hear about them or see them? events can be known better when seen and can be known as true. Details are easier to see than hear

4 years, 1 month ago

I think a phone call is what accors after quick sudden events.

4 years, 1 month ago

not what I'm saying but quick sudden events unlike Isis can only be seen by social media unless luckily there was an on duty reporter right there

4 years, 1 month ago

What?? so your saying If we had no social media we would have no idea about ISIS or anything? if your getting all your info from social media that is a problem.

4 years, 1 month ago

That 10%needs to be heard and social media will do that. If there was no social media we wouldn't have any knowledge or vision of what is happening. People who are there for an event can share it on social media so that we are informed. We would have less inside knowledge of what's happening in the world

4 years, 1 month ago

90% of social media is trash wastes time and kills the brain. 10% is good, informs us and stuff.

keep social media because of that 10%?
people get along just fine without it, they are more focused, less lazy and their brain is sharper. For these reasons many coaches ban social media use for players on their team.

4 years, 1 month ago

will you get it through your dumb thick skull? People listen to the important things on Twitter and fb. It also gives us a way to socialize from far away quickly. Social media allows for quicker better communication

4 years, 1 month ago

Look at what people put on social media like fb twitter and others, not this app. it is mostly stupid pointless stuff.

Alex is the top senator, but he is the stupidest conservative I've found on social media.

4 years, 1 month ago

when people want to express th or opinions they go to social media because people will listen to them. It's a way to be heard and feel included. Whether their ideas are good or not they need to be included and heard

4 years, 1 month ago

what opoins are shared over social media 99.9 of the time it's something like "your selfi looks great" or something stupid and pointless. that is why I have this app and not fb or twitter, so I can discuss real opinions with people.

4 years, 1 month ago

Social media is important so that we can all express our opinions freely.

4 years, 1 month ago

It definitely makes you a lot less productive. Switching from an hour of social media to trying to do a project is like switching from crack to tums. I feel restless and unattentive for sure, its addictive

4 years, 1 month ago

I don't have any social media besides this app, this app is better because I can actually learn things from it, find weakness and strengths in my debating skills, it does good for me, social media does not. I don't use nearly as much time on this app as most people use on social media.

You're like the top debater...

4 years, 1 month ago

Alex you're constantly on here..you're contradicting yourself. I bet you Tweet and Facebook all day

4 years, 1 month ago

it also takes away family time.
Texting also within the family or to someone on the house, instead of walking upstairs people will just text, this kills brain cells looking at screens, and lows social ability.

bullying is also a huge social media problem
sometimes it's an anonymous too.

it takes away time you could spent doing sports or other fun stuff, and makes you lazier. no wonder some sports teams ban the use of social media.
