I'm not aware of what Tariffs india has put in place. But in general, tariffs do more harm than good. They artificially inflate prices for the stuff you are putting tariffs on. This usually will lower sales on those things because they are more expensive. So the companies that sell those things will make less money and need fewer employees.

It is also very anti-consumer. The increased costs caused by tariffs almost always fall on the consumers. They are forced to pay more for the things they need.
