the balancing act is not that hard. the west has done it for a while now. it takes a modest mixture of faith and respect.
both are needed certainly but it is a balancing act. too much order and u have nk. not enough and u will have anarchy and will easily be taken over. the balance is required for a healthy society.
I feel oppressive order creares chaotic resistance. The templars made the assassins.
The choice between freedom and order is false. one can have freedom in order, western Europe and America proved that. obviously proper institutions are necessary. without a trustworthy police and justice system people will take matters into personal hands and breed chaos, but can you blame them? with proper systems a system of order that respects freedom is the most stable. An oppressive regime will only last if it has overwhelming power make resistance futile, and even then some people may eventually choose to fight.
this almost becomes the question of which do u value more? freedom or order?
I lean a bit more to the Templars though. I love my freedoms but without order civilization stops. they go to far as u said though when they want to be able to control ur very thoughts. I would like to see another from the Templars perspective though.
Honestly, I think both have valid points and both carry it too far to extremes.
Assassins represent personal freedom. They stand up to tyranny and oppression. The problem is that they are essentially anarchists. How many of the guards killed were simply trying to make a living to support families and keep their community safe. Obviously the Templars who killed and abused others are different, but the average guard isn't necessarily any more corrupt than your average policeman. They are just people.
The Templar believe in order. They think that without a strong hand, society descends into chaos. This is essentially what we saw happen in the Middle East. A strong leader was removed, and the region descended into warring factions and violent extremism. The problem is that the Templar want to be the dictators at the top ruling with an iron fist and destroying those who oppose them.
Both factions carry their ideals to extremes and both kill those who disagree.
