It is extremely important that in the effort of teaching martial arts, instructors prioritise self defense above all else during training. This is inherently better taught when they are young considering they are open to views.
If everyone achieved some proficiency in martial arts, no matter how basic, it also might help give people the confidence to stand up to bullies, and not necessarily with violence.
I took martial arts as a child and again whole in university and in both cases when to use it was taught. There would likely always be some who did not learn discipline along with the physical skills, but martial arts tends to have a mediating effect on those who lack respect. If someone is a bully, unless they are the best in the class they will be restrained to some extent by the older pupils and the teacher.
even though the parents exposed martial arts to the children, however how could you be sure children especially young ones can really understand the purpose . They could be just learning it for fun and would use it for other purposes rather than for self defense .
I would agree as well, apart from self defense which is key nowadays and this is something that can not probably be denied. It also presents benefits like discipline, team effort, tutor-mentor skills and much more.
I agree with this. I think there should be a self-defense aspect in every grade's fitness program. Indeed I'd go so far as to say there should be two years of mandatory military service from 18-20 for all youth so all humans in a society are fit and ready to defend themselves and their country.
