the question that when asked is the answer. "do I have a soul?" this is actually a revised quote from a game series called mass effect but it seemed like a good fit for the question

What defines a human life?

Trees do meet all of those criteria.

Well then doctors can say "hey we can keep the fetus "alive" instead of aborting it" but it is still the mothers decision to abort or not. Until the fetus is viable outside the womb on its own (of course there are some exceptions) I would still let the mother choose. Also what characteristics do trees not follow?

Also, don't trees fall short on some of these characteristics? Which Democrats seem to be willing to defend over an unborn child or a fetus?

Yeah, but fetuses are becoming viable earlier and earlier every day. And it also depends on where you are located in the country. Do you think that we should be allowed to abort a viable fetus?

1) responsiveness to the environment 2) growth and change 3) ability to reproduce 4) have a metabolise and breathe 5) maintain homeostasis 6) made of cells 7) passing traits onto offspring. A fetus does not follow the 5th one until around the 6th month. Obviously each fetus growths at different speeds but generally that's where it falls.

Can you tell me what those 7 characteristics are, so that I can see how consistent they are?

9 months, 4 weeks ago

Any life starts when an organism follows the 7 characteristics of life. A fetus does not do this until around the 3rd trimester or 6 months.
