except you saying marijuana is bad makes no sense. it is an arbitrary moralist argument. so legalizing something people want and are going to use no matter what you do makes less crime.

more terrorists=less crime?

3 years, 3 months ago

i made a equation

legalizing bad things=less crime

how is it?

3 years, 3 months ago

many countries are legalizing marijuana. it makes a great deal of sense.

An argument against a legal drinking age of 16 is that american kids are allowed to drive cars at the age 16. This is not the case in, for example, Germany, where you are allowed to drive a car at the age of 18.

then why dont we legalize drugs huh?

3 years, 3 months ago

why? they tried that and it ended very badly. just like the current war on drugs is going badly. it wouldn't work. you would just turn millions of law abiding people into criminals.

i think alcohol should be banned. only legal for medical purposes.

3 years, 3 months ago

it's because it's illegal. it's because in our societies it is something they aren't supposed to do, so they want to do it more. that's why Germany, with its cultural acceptance of alcohol, doesn't have the same problems we do with kids and alcohol. but changing the law won't change the culture. kids would still drink dangerously, they would just have a legal way to get the alcohol.

I don't understand why people cant just wait until they reach the legal age what ever that is? I don't get what is so exciting about drinking alcohol??

Drinking alcohol at age 16 should be legal.

As a German, I already drank legally with 14 years. Also, we're allowed to buy alcohol with 16.
My early experiences with alcohol are basically boring and not dangerous at all - I think that's because it's legal. Most 16-year olds that I know handle alcohol in an accountable way.
Therefore my conclusion:
Drinking alcohol at age 16 should be legal.

I see where you are coming from with this, i also disagree on making the drinking legal for 16 year olds.

Where im from the drinking age is 18 and i find it to be fine that way, even if ive seen the worst in alcohol. From drunk drivers to alcoholic relatives, alcohol does suck, but if a 16 year old really wants to drink they will find a way to do so. I think alcohol is different for everybody and it should be controlled. Im 22 and have seen a lot happend to good people because of bad decisions concerning alcohol.. as for the age though.. you dont need to be 16 to be an alcoholic.. you also dont need to be 18 to drink and drive. Thats decisions made by people of all ages.

the drinking age in the UK is 18 and its awful! before I start sounding like an old fogey I am 18 myself and I think it should be raised to 21 like America!!

so I think it should be banned at 18 let alone 16 because since the driving age is 17 here and the drinking age is 18 the amount of drink driving is sky high and the majority of people killed in drink driving cases are teenagers.

another reason is that at 18 you are in a crucial part of college, the last year of your A-levels which determine whether you go to uni or not!
someone I used to know turned 18 just a few months before she became obsessed with alcohol and drinking, and that was pretty much all she ever did, we even fell out over it she got pretty annoyed that I wouldn't come out drinking with her every night, she failed her A-levels in the end

obviously my opinion is based on this, but what happened to her wasn't uncommon pretty much everyone who is 18 does the same, I'm just a bit odd and not really a normal party girl teenager! but even so I do not agree with this!

in fact I would prefer alcohol not to exist at all! but again that's just my personal opinion
