Yes, technically you will have equality amongst the masses; however, it removes every incentive out of working. Economic equality isn't necessarily good. It helps a middle class worker to see a mansion and say "I want to earn that". It forces ingenuity and entrepreneurship in order to make it places.
the socialism of Karl marx is great on paper but ignores human impulses. it is a utopian society we should strive for, but we should not be so naive as to try to implement it in its pure form.
his goals and priorities should be embraced by our governments, while the economy is driven primarily by private capitalism. the government should regulate the market, and not interfere except for when needed for the good of the people.
for example, ensuring stability (preventing massive income inequality), promoting competition (regulating mergers and breaking apart companies that grow too large within their markets), investing in technology useful for the people (medicine, renewable energy) etc.
