The DOJ states blacks accounted for 52.5% of homicide offenders from 1980 to 2008. "Crime and punishment" was written in the mid 1980's. So given that they are 13% of the population my figures are pretty close. Even your numbers of 40% is way disproportionate to their percentage of the population. You make my point for me. Stating that you're "sure" my numbers were wrong without checking shows a confirmation bias toward minimalizing them due to a culturally instilled feeling that you must. The numbers speak for themselves but you minimize the conclusion of the numbers from what I'm pointing out is the culturally instilled fear of seeming racist when you're merely stating facts. That is my point that no media outlet will point that out. Our culture has gotten to the point that to even state facts is considered racist. I'm tired of hearing how blacks aren't responsible for these numbers and that it's due to cops/the justice system's "racist" attitude that they are arrested more often. No one has considered the alternative answer to the disproportionate amount of arrests that it just might be that they commit disproportionately more crimes.
I'm not sure if that statistic was true when it was written. But it isn't true today. The department of justice stats for 2012 show that whites committed 60% of all violent crime. All other ethnicities committed 40%. A quick google search will tell you your "fact" is actually a lie.
Did anyone see this? http://www.gopusa.com/?p=5861?omhide=true
I truly didn't mean to sound rascist historybuff and my apologies for it. I think that's part of my point though. It has become in our culture that if you even speak irrefutable facts but they sound demeaing then you're written off as a rascist. A good example is the fact that blacks being roughly 12-13% of the population are responsible for around 75% of violent crime. (my source is "Crime and punishment." It's an older book but I believe a little research would say something similar) No one would dare state a fact like this even though it is a fact. The immediate reaction as well would be to blame society, whites or whatever for that being the case. No personal responsibility. Even facts are written off.
so the goverment drew first blood? should probably make the goverment smaller so these things don't happen again, Damm goverment not allowing people to feed children.
I know that. I know the great things they did. It still does not excuse the later violent behavior. Nothing does or ever will. I am completely for non-violence.
after doing a bit a reading I'm less sure about my oppinon of the black panthers. by the sounds of it they started as a law abiding organization designed to defend black people from racist attacks and were well known for taking better care of people (such as feeding hungry children) than the government. they were the target of a campaign to suppression, harassment, and attacks by the FBI for reasons including feeding children. they saw this as an attempt at indoctrination by showing them that the government didn't care about them, which they didn't.
I haven't done enough reading for a full conclusion. but they certainly aren't just the violent thugs that the media has portrayed them as.
"that said, I don't think venerating the black panthers is a good thing."
---- That really is the thing I don't get.
OK that comment was kinda racist vitruvian. and I'm not black so you can't just say I'm whining. there is a huge amount of evidence that blacks are still actively mistreated today. saying that their fight for equality is just then crying racist, is in itself racist.
that said, I don't think venerating the black panthers is a good thing.
Ditto to all. The simple truth is after years of affirmative action and such Blacks still find they can't compete so crying racist is a way of putting their responsibility off on white people in particular. They can't succeed and as a race through all of history have never been successful or contributed much at all so rather than taking personal responsibility to be successful they scream whites keep them down. Whatever.. I've been hearing it for 30 years now...
Right black people are not the only people on earth which its not all black people but the ones who do things like this its their own fault there is still rasisim that's what they want
If she wanted to show support, why not pick a non-violent group? Why not sing a song true to her? There were better ways to show she supports black lives matters.
Read up on it. Seems pretty racist. Lol. Along with that new song.
I laughed to myself about the thing about african roots and hertiage, because her hair is always permed and or blonde. Really beyonce? hypocrite.
As for the Black Panthers. That was such a radical group. If white people idolized the kkk that would be racist, but this is considered a movement.
Why does it seem like race relations just keep getting worse and worse in the us? Why the black panthers of all groups?
they dressed in black panther outfits
lol. I didn't even watch it, but now I want to know what happened.
